There are a lot of dating websites out there, and Black Singles hopes you’ll join them. But do they really offer enough to make them stand out from the crowd? We’re not entirely sure. There are definitely some positives to the site, including the fact that it’s relatively well designed, its registration process is simple and it claims to be an up-and-coming superstar in black dating, but sadly we’re not convinced that its current membership numbers really reflect their image.

We performed a broad search in a well known location to discover how many results we’d get. Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed to find that we only received around 30 results, and many of those had no profile photo. What’s more, none of the members were online when we were, meaning that we had no opportunity to speak to them.

What does this mean for you? Unless you live in a major city, you’re unlikely to log on and find that other members are there waiting to chat. This is far from ideal if you’re hoping to get to know someone and maybe even go on a date.

This is really unfortunate because BlackSingles.com actually has pretty decent features and it’s set up so that you can get involved in an online community. There are chat rooms which you can check out, allowing you to start discussions on any topic you like. You could also check out the Questions & Answers section, which offers support from your fellow website members.

If you like to talk to larger groups you can also take a look at the site’s message boards. E-cards are something of a unique feature as well. You can send these to members in an attempt to grab their attention, and they cover a range of events and emotions, whether it’s care and concern or pick up lines, well wishes for Martin Luther King Jr day, or Groundhog day.

If you’d like to take things offline you can take a look at the upcoming events that are scheduled. There are a couple each month, although you may find that none of them are near you. Of course you can post your own event and invite others to attend, which is a good way to get to know people.

We mentioned setting up a profile, which was quick and professional. Profiles contain an okay amount of information but many are lacking the detail we’d like to see. You can also upload photos to let your face do the talking.

Searching is easy enough and you can filter results to your preferences. There is also an option to save your search preferences so you don’t need to keep inputting them each time. Meanwhile, if you can’t be bothered performing searches over and over then you can just receive matches based on the information you provided when you registered.

If only this website had more members, we think it’d be a really useful place to visit. Unfortunately the fact is that our search results just didn’t deliver. However, Black Singles is free to join, so there’s nothing to lose from setting up a profile and performing a few searches. You might find that you have better luck!
